FAQ

What You Need to Know

Do you perform any physical examinations?

No, Your doula does not and will not perform any genital  or physical exams, But we can provide physical touch in terms and forms of massage, counter pressure, and other comfort techniques as requested by the client and within the non-medicinal scope of practice.

How will hiring you affect my partner’s role during the birth?

I will help support both the birthing person and partner as much as they would need or like. This means giving you both time together, alone to increase your oxytocin production. Fetching any comfort items for your partner so that they can remain exactly as close as you'd like during your labor journey.  Offering a shoulder or an ear to listen and express themselves openly without judgement. Giving your partner the tools and education to help you maintain and find comfort, rhythms, and to navagate the ebbs and flows of your experiences.

What are your interactions with medical staff like?

Overwhelmingly Positive. We have fantastic labor and delivery staff in all of the hospitals I've worked in, in Nova Scotia. There is a vivid understanding that having unwavering support during your birth has proven to increase positive maternal experience rates, bonding, pain management, caesarian section rates, and more!
